The Nagpur Orange is a complete delight for your taste buds. It is GI tagged indicating the geographical labelling given to this variety of oranges from Nagpur. The Nagpur oranges blossom during the Monsoon season and are ready to be harvested from the month of December. The orange crop here grows twice a year. The fruit available from September to December is Ambiya which has a slightly sour taste. It is followed by the sweeter Mrig crop in January and February.
Some studies say the Nagpur orange because of its excellence, spread widely in the orient and could be the progenitor of other highly regarded mandarins of China and other countries
About Organov Farm:
Organov Farms is run by Aakash and his father on their ancestral land in Amravati, Maharashtra. Under cultivation for over 40 years, Aakash's father is a seasoned farmer who quit his teaching job and decided to pursue farming full time. Aakash too has quit his fast paced city life in Bangalore and gone back to Amravati to join his father on the farm.
After suffering losses due to chemical farming nearly a decade ago, they switched to the natural farming principles of Subhash Palekar. Since then they have had great success with their crops. Spanning over 40 acres, this is a mammoth farm and converting this to natural farming has truly been a great achievement.
