Totapuri Mango
is elongated with a prominent beak-like tip, which is reflected in its name— “Tota” meaning parrot and “Puri” referring to the beak, resembling a parrot’s beak. This mango is typically medium to large in size, with a vibrant green to golden-yellow skin when ripe, often smooth and firm to the touch. Unlike many other mangoes, the Totapuri has very little fiber, making it ideal for processing into pulp, juice, and concentrate. The flesh is firm, succulent, and mildly sweet with a hint of tartness, making it less sugary than varieties like Alphonso. Because of this balanced flavor, it is often used both for direct consumption and in culinary applications including salads, smoothies, chutneys, pickles, and desserts.
