Poongar rice contains high amounts of iron, which helps to improve and maintain a good hemoglobin count, Apart from Iron and Zinc, Poongar rice contains manganese, phosphorus, molybdenum, magnesium.
It is one among the traditional rices that can grow with less water. At the same time it is also flood tolerant. This rice is ideal for making soft idly, dosa and porridges, in addition to other rice preparations.
This rice is grown completely without chemicals at Kaadu Organic farm. For past 5 years chemical free farming is practiced at this farm. Farm is scope certified under TNOCD. Natural farming techniques like intercropping, regular use of Jeevamrutham, cow dung, buttermilk solution, panchagavya are followed at farm.
