It is an extremely tall variety. The height of this variety can even hide wild elephants when they enter the farm and for this reason it is called as “Kattuyanam” (meaning wild elephant in Tamil). This variety has a number of medicinal properties. It is used in the control of diabetics and also for cancer treatment. It’s anti-oxidant properties have cure for many heart related diseases.

This rice is grown completely without chemicals at Kaadu Organic farm. For past 5 years chemical free farming is practiced at this farm. Farm is scope certified under TNOCD. Natural farming techniques like intercropping, regular use of Jeevamrutham, cow dung, buttermilk solution, panchagavya are followed at farm.
