Pomelo is one of the largest fruits in the citrus family. It is a non-hybrid citrus fruit, similar in appearance to a large grapefruit. In Tamil pomelos are called “pampa limāsu” which means “big citrus”, in Malyalam they are called “Kambili naranga” and in Bengali “Batapi Lebu”.
These are grown completely naturally without use of any chemicals at Anbarasan’s farm in Gudalur. In his 1 acre plot he has been growing Avocado, Tea, Egg fruit, Pepper, Pomelo, Sous Sop and Arecanut naturally. He has been using farmyard manure for soil nourishment and neem oil spray for pest control.
This is red flesh Pomelo. Flesh tastes great and the membrane covering the flesh is bitter and usually discarded. You can consume as it is after peeling, or you can juice it up or have it in salads. You can also make pomelo candy out of its rind.
