Ponni rice gets its name from the Kaveri River, which is referred to as Ponni in Tamil Nadu. Farmers originally cultivated this rice in the Kaveri River delta, located in the Tamil Nadu districts of Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, and Tiruvarur.
An excellent, healthier substitute for white rice is ponni rice. This tasty, fragrant rice variety is high in beneficial fiber.

For the past 5 years chemical free farming is practiced at this farm and it is scope certified under TNOCD. Natural farming techniques like intercropping, regular use of jeevamrutham, cow dung, buttermilk solution, panchagavya are followed at farm.
