After Ratnagiri Alphonso and Mahabaleshwar strawberries got the Geographical Indication (GI) tag, Alphonso growers from Junnar taluka of Pune district have started the process of acquiring the GI tag for their variety of Alphonso mangoes.
Junnar Alphonso usually comes in later to the market compared to Ratnagiri Alphonso - in June - and have a unique taste, having been cultivated in interior areas of Malshej ghat with the pure clean water of the area and pollution free environment.
