We are delighted to present you to an indigenous Rajapuri turmeric grown on our Soilaroma farms in Bhilawadi village, which is blessed by the presence of the Krishna river. Indigenous Rajapuri Turmeric is well-known in India for its distinct saffron colour, high curcumin content and strong earthy aroma.

At Soilaroma, we believe in slow and traditional farming practices, which improve the overall quality of the product. We grow turmeric naturally with the use of organic farm-made fertilisers like bijamrut, jivamrut, dashparni ark, and fruit bio enzyme. We use soil mulching to minimise water consumption. Turmeric is then harvested manually by the use of traditional tools and processed by ancient methods.

Finally, turmeric powder is packed in eco-friendly food-grade material and tagged with plantable seed paper, which is made from textile waste and paper. By following all traditional approaches, we are not only avoiding a 4 tonne CO2 release into the atmosphere every year but also converting textile waste into valuable products.

We would like to highlight a very unique approach that is adopted at our farm to make our native turmeric unique. I am sure whoever uses Indigenous Rajapuri Turmeric, the first few things they notice are the saffron colour and the unique pleasant aroma. Let me share a secret about this aroma.

In modern turmeric processing, oil in turmeric burn because of the high temperature achieved in the grinding process, but we do our grinding with stone and use a traditional stone grinder for the job. This method keeps the temperature of turmeric powder very low during the grinding process and helps to retain maximum essential oils in turmeric. The essential oils then provide a unique, long-lasting aroma to Indigenous Rajapuri Turmeric, which speaks about the quality of turmeric.

About Soilaroma

This is Sumit Kinikar from Bhilawadi, a small lovely village on the banks of the Krishna River in Maharashtra's Sangli district. We are fortunate to have beautiful fields surrounding the villages, as well as rich biodiversity, thanks to the river Krishna.

I am a fourth-generation farmer who has been operating our farm in a completely organic manner under the brand name SOILAROMA since January 2019. At Soilaroma, we believe in reviving long-forgotten ancient farming practises and inventing innovative ways to boost the nutritional value of farm produce with the goal of eliminating artificial chemical content in our food.

We are also working on regenerative farming with a zero-waste concept where we control and compensate for CO2 released during farming and processing activity. We are also working on multi-cropping, slow farm practice, traditional & ethical processing and eco-friendly packaging models to create a sustainable environment within the farm. With a mission to protect our native seeds, which are capable of handling India's weather conditions easily, we cultivate only indigenous crops.

Let’s make our world sustainable for the next generation to live happily and thrive with abundance. Let’s support the village economy to protect our tradition, culture, and food.
