Stone-ground khapli (emmer) wheat flour is a staple of the mountain diet. Emmer wheat is rich in fiber, protein, magnesium and other vitamins. It is a complete protein source when combined with legumes, which makes it an excellent addition to a vegetarian diet or for anyone looking for a plant-based high-protein food source. It is among the best wheat varieties to make rotis as well as bread or pasta at home.

The highlight of the flour that we are bringing to you is that the flour is milled in traditional water-powered stone flour mills, called gharat locally. Flour ground in these traditional mills are prized for retaining all the nutritious goodness of grains because these mills slowly grind the grain without heating them due to friction. The flour is gently ground over two or three days.

Tons Trails is a travel company ! We began work in 2013, in a small way, putting the tiny himalayan village of Kalap ( www.kalap.in ) in tourism (and literally on Google) maps!
