Cultivated by the Kaani tribesfolk, who have honed their agricultural skills over generations, this pepper thrives in a regenerative organic farming system that honors the land’s natural rhythms.
Here, the black pepper vines climb gracefully up the towering trees, their roots drawing nourishment from the rich, living soil nurtured by a symbiotic ecosystem. This forest-based cultivation method enriches the earth while preserving biodiversity, ensuring a peppercorn that is as vibrant and robust as its surroundings.
The Kaani tribesfolk employ age-old techniques that enhance soil health and promote ecological balance, using no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Their deep-rooted knowledge and respect for nature are evident in every peppercorn, which is hand-harvested with care to maintain its rich, aromatic qualities.
Our black pepper boasts a complex flavor profile, with a bold, spicy kick and subtle undertones of earthy, woody notes—a true reflection of its pristine, forested origins. About Vivasayee's Life:
Noushadya and Sudhakar here. We are partners in life, in the farm and in business. Right after we got married, we quit urban life and moved to a rural life in 2018 to Vikramasingapuram, Tamil Nadu. We started farming in a land that we purchased - we called it Vaanavil Farm & Food Forest. We built a mud house at the farm and moved into it in 2020, right after the pandemic. We practice multi-layer, zero-tillage regenerative agroforestry in most of the land and cultivate annual crops such as paddy and pulses in less than an acre. The excessive peacock and parrot population allow us to cultivate vegetables just about enough for home consumption. We have introduced several timber trees, fruiting perennials, native cows, chicken, ducks, dogs and honeybees to the farm over the years. We believe that plant, animal and microbial diversity is a great tool to battle
We grow about 50% of our own food from the farm, generate 75% of personal electrical energy consumption using solar panels and 25% of our cooking energy using firewood. We are proud to announce that we have realized a 6 fold increase in Soil Organic Carbon % over the 6 years of our efforts of soil health regeneration.
Vivasayee's Life is our endeavour to bring together produce of 20 passionate organic farmers nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Tirunelveli and Tenkasi Districts, Tamil Nadu, India. With a deep-rooted commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices, we take pride in supporting farmers who cultivate the land with utmost care and respect for eco-systems.
At Vivasayee's Life, our journey is rooted in the traditions as well as modern techniques of organic farming. Our farmers, with a profound understanding of the rich soil and unique climatic conditions of Tirunelveli, work tirelessly to bring you the purest, freshest, and most nutritious produce.We believe in the power of sustainable agriculture to promote a healthier lifestyle, preserve the environment, and uplift local communities. While it might seem that we are living the modern sustainable dream, there is a long way to go. There are many challenges that we face as a small business and a young organic farmer's collective.
