Soapnut Berry. The magical berry.
Soapnut is an amazing natural alternative to all cleaning. It is completely safe for the body, even safe for babies, it is healthy for our water systems, it is eco-friendly and it is economically viable.
Soapnut can be used to wash hair, clothes, dishes and can also be used to clean any surface including toilets. Read on to make the switch from chemical to natural.
Cook a handful of soapnut in a pressure cooker for 1 whistle. Squish the seeds well and strain to make a soapnut liquid. This liquid will last 1 week.
You can also boil or soak in hot water overnight. We find pressure cooker most effective.
Hairwash: Use as a natural shampoo. Don't use only soapnut liquid to wash hair, it dries out the hair. Add shikakai powder or chigaru powder, or neem leaves paste, soaked fenugreek seeds paste, hibiscus flowers and leaves paste etc.
Dish wash: Use the soapnut liquid to wash utensils. can be combined with bio-enzyme or wood ash.
Laundry: Pour the soapnut liquid in the washing machine to wash clothes. For handwash soak in water + soapnut liquid. Separate whites and lights. Add lemon juice or bio enzyme or vinegar in whites or stains.

If you don't like the smell of soapnut, you can add essential oils like lemon oil to add fragrance.
