Brinjal Purple Long Seeds - Naati/Desi - - Pack of 60 Seeds
Gardening
Brinjal Purple Long, also known as eggplant or aubergine, is a variety of brinjal that has a long, slender shape with a vibrant purple skin. It is popular in many cuisines and is used in a variety of dishes such as curries, stir-fries, and grills.
Brinjal is packed with essential vitamins and minerals like Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and Vitamin B6, as well as fiber and potassium.
Great for weight management, as it contains very few calories but is filling due to its fiber content.
Contains powerful antioxidants, including nasunin (a type of anthocyanin found in its purple skin) which helps protect cells from damage and has anti-aging properties.
Seed Preparation:
Soak the seeds in warm water for 6-8 hours before sowing to improve the germination rate.
Sowing the Seeds:
Use seed trays or small pots filled with well-draining, organic soil or a seed-starting mix.
Sow the seeds about 0.5 cm deep and cover them lightly with soil.
Maintain a warm environment (25°C to 30°C) as brinjal seeds require warmth to germinate.
Watering :
Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Mist the surface gently to avoid displacing the seeds.
A humidity dome or plastic wrap can be used to retain moisture, but make sure to air it out occasionally to prevent mold.
Germination Time:
Seeds typically germinate within 7-14 days, depending on conditions like temperature and humidity.
Transplanting:
Once seedlings are around 3-4 inches tall and have at least two sets of true leaves, they can be transplanted to a larger pot or directly into the garden.
Harden off the seedlings by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions before transplanting.
Spacing and Sunlight:
Plant seedlings 18-24 inches apart in full sun. Brinjals need at least 6-8 hours of sunlight daily for optimal growth.
Care :
Regular watering and mulching will help retain soil moisture and prevent weeds.
Use organic compost to nourish the plants throughout the growing season.
No of seeds per pkt : 60
Germination Rate: 70%
