Gardening

Radish (Raphanus sativus) is a fast-growing root vegetable known for its crisp texture and peppery flavor. Radishes are commonly used in salads, pickles, and garnishes, and their leaves are also edible. There are many varieties of radish, ranging in size, color, and flavor, from the small red globe types to the long white daikon radishes commonly used in Asian cuisine.

Radishes are low in calories but high in fiber, making them a healthy snack.

They are a good source of vitamin C, which boosts the immune system.

Radishes contain antioxidants that support overall health and fight inflammation

Soil Preparation:
Radishes prefer loose, well-draining soil. Prepare the soil by mixing in compost to ensure it’s nutrient-rich.
Ensure the soil is free of stones or clumps, as these can deform the roots.

Planting :
Planting Depth: Sow radish seeds about 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) deep.
Spacing: Space seeds 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart in rows that are 12 inches (30 cm) apart.

Temperature :
Radishes thrive in cooler weather and can tolerate temperatures between 50°F to 75°F (10°C to 24°C).
They can be planted in early spring or late summer for a fall harvest. Hot weather can cause radishes to bolt (flower and go to seed) and become woody.

Watering :
Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water regularly, especially during dry spells, to prevent the radishes from becoming too spicy or woody.

Sunlight :
Radishes grow best in full sun, but they can tolerate partial shade, especially in warmer climates.

Germination Time:
Radish seeds typically germinate in 3-7 days, making them one of the fastest vegetables to sprout.

Thinning :
Once seedlings are about 2 inches tall, thin them to leave 2-3 inches (5-7 cm) between plants to allow the roots to develop fully.

Harvesting :
Radishes are usually ready to harvest in 3-4 weeks after planting, depending on the variety.
Harvest them when they are about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter for the best flavor and texture.
If left in the ground too long, they can become woody or pithy.

No of seeds per pkt : 60

Germination Rate: 70%

That these seeds are coated with thiram to protect the seeds - we recommend treating the seeds with diluted panchagavya or beejamrutha before sowing
