Walnut or akhrotes are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids and anti-oxidants and is super beneficial for hearth health and the brain. There is a saying that if you consume more walnuts u will get yourself more brains!
Walnuts in Kashmir are usually harvested in October when the farmer climbs to the top of the tree and beats down the fruits with a long stick. After this, they are hulled, washed, and then let out to dry on fields for more than a week.
Interesting trivia about walnut trees: they secrete chemicals into the soil to prevent competing vegetation from growing - because of this, flowers or vegetable gardens should not be planted close to them !
We bring to you these walnut kernels, from walnuts grown by Fayaz Ahmed in his farm in Anantnag. Fayaz grows Almonds, Walnuts, Apricots, Cherry, and a little bit of Apples in the small patches of lands he owns, without the use of any chemicals or pesticides.
These are walnut kernels without shell. You can store them in dry airtight container for 6 months.
