Crafted in small batches with meticulous care, this exquisite cheese embodies tradition, quality, and the essence of local craftsmanship.
Mozzarella cheese is a traditionally southern Italian cheese renowned for its delicate flavor, smooth texture, and exceptional melting qualities. Originally made from the rich milk of water buffaloes, particularly in the regions of Campania and Lazio, mozzarella has become widely produced using cow's milk, especially outside Italy. The name "mozzarella" is derived from the Italian verb mozzare , meaning "to cut off," which refers to the hand-stretching and cutting process used during its production.
This semi-soft cheese is known for its pure white color when made from buffalo milk, while cow’s milk mozzarella may have a slight yellowish hue. It has a high moisture content and a soft, elastic consistency, which makes it ideal for slicing and melting. Fresh mozzarella is typically packed in brine or whey and consumed shortly after production, giving it a milky, mild flavor and a creamy, almost buttery mouthfeel.
