Pickle Mango - Organically Grown - 1 Kg

Fruits

Pickle mangoes are typically grown without letting the fruits ripen, and are carefully plucked at the right stage to retain their crispness and sourness. They are commonly used in South Indian-style pickles like Avakkai (Andhra-style), Maavadu (Tamil Nadu-style), and Kadumanga (Kerala-style), where they are combined with mustard seeds, chili powder, fenugreek, turmeric, rock salt, and sesame or mustard oil. These mangoes soak in the spice mix over time, resulting in a bold, punchy condiment that accompanies almost every Indian meal.

The skin of pickle mangoes is smooth, taut, and sometimes slightly glossy, and they have a distinct green hue. The stone inside is underdeveloped and soft, making the whole fruit edible in its pickled form. Rich in antioxidants, vitamins A and C, and digestive enzymes, pickled mangoes not only add zest to the palate but also offer digestive and preservative benefits.

About Farm:

Farm is located in the Mudukurki village near Berigai which is part of the Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu. It is around 51 kms from Whitefield, Bangalore and approximately 40 kms from Hosur. The farm is owned and managed by Mrs. and Mr. Jeganath with the help of their children, who reside in Whitefield, Bangalore. The recently retired couple turned their attention from their professions to their shared passion - Farming.

The Farm is spread across 6 acres with reasonably fertile soil. However, it was just a piece of barren land with around 30 to 40 mango trees a decade ago. They then planted over 650 plants/trees, which include Mango, Chikoo, Lemon, Banana, Guava, Custard Apple, Pomegranate, Almonds, Litchi, Avocado, Neem, Tamarind, Silver Oak, Teak, Jackfruit and Coconut. In addition to the aforementioned, multiple varieties of vegetables and decorative plants make up the Farm’s vegetation. Although, some of the plants/trees are in the growing stage and are yet to yield.

As far as the yield is concerned, it has 7 different varieties of Mangoes, namely - Malgova, Badami, Neelam, Sendoori, Raspuri, Totapuri and pickle mangoes. Additionally, the farm also yields multiple varieties of Chikoos, Banana, Lemon, and papaya.

The farm is also home to Country Chicken/natti Kolis, Ducks, Geese and Gander.

Organic farming being at the forefront of everything done at Farm, only organic fertilizers like natural manure are used to a very large extent, which is done on a periodic basis.

The Farm also has a small cottage, which is used by the family. They intend to construct 3 to 4 additional cottages as a lot of their friends and relatives are interested in staying and experiencing farm life
